Christmas Lists

Even though I am a total and admitted crank around the holidays (mostly because of all the bad music that is played) I do look forward to Quinn and Logan's christmas lists. In year's past they've asked for wood dowels, duct tape, garden stakes and other obvious kid-friendly items. Even though they are getting older and the lists are less game/toy heavy, there are still some gems. For example, "the Clapper." I kid you not, Quinn has that on his list this year, because how cool would it be to walk into your room, clap loudly and voila -- the lights are on! What will inventors think of next? A way to brown and crisp your bread?! So without further ado, here are the wish-lists for 2011 written exactly as they were submitted to Jim and me.

Logan:
1. Mouse for computer
2. Clothes (socks also)
3. ipod speakers
4. itunes cards
5. shoes ?
6. trip to Mt. Hood Meadows
7. More cargo shorts
8. Paintball Palace trip

22.”clapper” for lights

You'll notice that Quinn actually provided links to some of the items on his wish list! Logan asked this morning to see what was on Quinn's list, as he had hand-written his and was pretty sure he was forgetting things. Sure enough, after reading Quinn's he asked if he could modify his already submitted list. Good thing they're leaving us plenty of time...Happy Holidays to everyone, whatever it is you celebrate this time of year!

Okay, so first things first. I dislike Christmas music too. However, She and Him's album is actually quite good. I dished out $10 bucks to iTunes, which is something I hardly do anymore since Spotify came into my life.

Secondly, a sure sign that the boys are growing up? Hyperlinking the xmas list. Too funny. I miss the days of the "forge" requests, but I'm glad to see that the mechanical pencils still made the cut.

I wonder what you will think of A Canadian Christmas? I can't wait to find out. The week before US Thanksgiving the University Women's Club does this lovely event at their clubhouse, an old and very beautiful property just above 16th and Granville. The kids and I always go, and I always join the raffle.

I have very mixed feelings about Christmas in general, it was a very stressful time when I was a kid. But given that I am in the process of hiring someone to help me clean house for the next month, and that I won't be running after everyone and their dogs (ie. my no-longer-ill mother) I think we shall do some baking, and some crafting, and together we shall have a lovely time. In our lovely rubber boots.

Oh, and I predict you will be doing some skiing. Without me, mind you. For now ...

Karen, I totally am going with you to the University Women's Club event. Jim and I were just talking this weekend about making sure we take part in the holiday festivities in Vancouver. Count me in for said baking, crafting, etc. I know we'll be in town until the 22nd and will then probably head to my grandfather's and then to Eugene for the remainder of the holiday. Looking forward to hanging tomorrow at the rink.
